About Us

Introduction

ScanVirginia was created last year as a scanner information and live scanner feed site for Central Virginia.  Since that time we have grown greatly.  We still focus on scanning in Central Virginia but we have also added many areas to the site.  Some of these include but are not limited to, fire units throughout the Commonwealth, links to public safety agencies throughout the Commonwealth, streaming scanners throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast, and a portal for general scanning information.

We are also looking to add scanner files from throughout the country.  Currently there is no one place you can go to get a file for a scanner program.  There are several areas in the USA that may not have a direct place to download the file.  This can make it difficult if you are traveling to a place that you have never scanned before because you may not know what you can and can't scan, etc.  This is one area we greatly need our viewers help on, without you we have no way of getting files from most areas throughout the USA.

Some people may think we are trying to compete with other scanner websites out there.  This is, by all means, not true, we want to work in conjunction with the other sites out there.  We feel the best way to get the information out there is to share that information.  If you find any information here that you would like to use for your website please feel free to do so.  All we ask in return is to be added to your links page.  If you do choose to do this please drop us a line and we can add you to our links.

A little more about us

No, we don't work for the government, nor the county, nor the police department. We are just scanner enthusiasts who want to share our wealth of information and our hobby with you. The frequencies that are broadcasted here are publicly broadcasted signals that anyone can pick up. Well that is, anyone with expensive gadgets and extensive information like us. In the state of Virginia it is legal to monitor these frequencies and listen in on the action, however, any use of the information heard to aid in a crime is illegal.
